Neurosurgery / Neuroendovascular Therapy

About our department

Neurosurgery provides diagnosis and treatment related to Surgery treatment among the diseases of the cranial nerve system handled by the Cranial Nerve Center. Our department has moved from the Neurosurgery Saiseikai Kanagawa Prefectural Hospital, which boasts more than 200 operations per year, and is aiming for more advanced treatment by enhancing any leading-edge

Medical treatment contents and features

For brain tumors, we provide optimal treatment by combining treatment methods

A navigation system and a neuroendoscope are used to combine the three treatment methods of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy for the treatment of brain tumors. We also partner with the university to provide leading-edge surgery for skull base tumors that are difficult to remove. For pituitary tumors, Otorhinolaryngology to perform surgery with less burden on the body. In addition, cyberknife stereotactic radiotherapy has also been installed, enabling total care in collaboration with the Radiation Oncology according to the type of tumor, such as metastatic tumors and skull base tumors that are difficult to remove.

24-hour emergency system

For cerebrovascular disorders, we have a 24-hour emergency system at the Cranial Nerve Center, which consists of our department and the Department of Cerebrovascular and Neurology, and patients with intracerebral hemorrhage or subarachnoid hemorrhage requiring surgery are treated at our department. I will. For ruptured cerebral aneurysms that have caused subarachnoid hemorrhage, Neurosurgery and coil embolization by a cerebrovascular treatment specialist are possible 24 hours a day, and are always available according to the patient's condition. The system allows you to select the appropriate treatment.

For unruptured cerebral aneurysms, you can choose the treatment that suits you, such as craniotomy clipping or coil embolization with endovascular treatment. Surgery treatment of all cerebrovascular disorders, including obstructive cerebrovascular accidents, bypass surgery for moyamoya disease, thrombointimal dissection or stent dilation for cervical internal carotid artery stenosis.

Specialists with high skills in each field will carry out treatment

We are also promoting neuroendoscopic surgery such as nasal endoscopic tumor removal, endoscopic hematoma removal, and endoscopic third ventricle fenestration by a certified neuroendoscopic doctor. I will.

Neuroendovascular Therapy

Since 2009, the Neuroendovascular Therapy has been established. Endovascular treatment is one of the diversifying treatments for cranial nerve diseases. It is a new surgical method that approaches from inside a blood vessel without cutting the skin or breaking the skull. A catheter is inserted from the base of the foot or the inside of the elbow, and a thinner catheter is advanced to the diseased area to treat the disease using various tools and chemicals. It makes it possible to treat various diseases that were difficult to treat with conventional surgery and that were highly invasive.

When a cerebral aneurysm ruptures, it causes subarachnoid hemorrhage, so surgery is performed to prevent hemorrhage. Traditionally, the first choice was a surgery called clipping, in which the head is opened and a clip is placed at the base of the cerebral aneurysm. In endovascular treatment, a flexible coil is placed inside the cerebral aneurysm via a microcatheter to block the affected area. Treatment is also possible when clipping is difficult due to deep aneurysms or complications. However, clipping may be recommended depending on the shape of the affected area. A specialist will determine the best treatment method for each individual.

At our hospital, we have been approved for insurance since April 2008, including stent placement for cervical carotid artery stenosis, stent placement for subclavian arteries, PTA for intracranial vascular stenosis lesions, brain tumors, and embolization for vascular malformations of the dural and brain. In addition, cerebrovascular treatment specialists are actively performing cerebrovascular treatment. Tools such as catheters and coils used in surgery have undergone remarkable evolution in recent years, and the target diseases are expanding.

Neurosurgery, Neuroendovascular Therapy in, with an increase in the number of surgical operations, Neurosurgery physician, you are looking for brain blood vessel within the treating physician.

Our department has more than 350 surgeries a year, and is characterized by a good balance of cerebrovascular accidents, brain tumors, and head injuries. There are also two cerebral endovascular treatment specialists enrolled, and the number of cerebral endovascular treatments is abundant. We welcome anyone who wants to experience surgical cases evenly or who wants to be extremely subspecialty leading-edge surgical equipment is always available, and a hybrid catheter room and hybrid ER are also permanently installed.
