Dermatology

About Dermatology

Our Dermatology provides treatment that utilizes the functions of a core acute care hospital.
We diagnose and treat all skin-related diseases for patients from children to adults.
The skin is also said to be a mirror of the whole body.
If the skin changes are deemed to be secondary to an underlying disease,
We can also refer you to the appropriate clinical department within the hospital.

診療内容

We provide a wide range of services, from general skin diseases to skin diseases that require a high level of expertise (autoimmune blistering diseases, malignant tumors, drug rashes, intractable alopecia, etc.), including diagnosis and treatment, surgery, and inpatient treatment in collaboration with other departments.

Atopic dermatitis

We treat children to adults, and work in cooperation with the pediatrics department, especially for children.
For patients with moderate to severe disease, we actively administer systemic therapy, including biological agents and oral JAK inhibitors, with the goal of enabling proactive treatment.

Psoriasis vulgaris

Psoriasis can affect not only the skin, but also the nails and joints. In addition to general topical treatments, we also use ultraviolet light therapy (systemic narrow-band UVB), oral medications such as Apremilast (Otezla®) and Deuclavacitinib (Soticts®), and any biological agents depending on the condition of each patient.

Alopecia areata

After proper diagnosis, we also provide steroid injection therapy, oral therapy with baricitinib (Olumient®) and ritrefuro (Ritfulo®) based on the patient's age, stage and severity. We also offer local immunotherapy with SADBE and DPCP (self-paid), steroid pulse therapy through hospitalization and other treatments.

Autoimmune blistering diseases (pemphigus, pemphigoid, etc.)

After a diagnosis is confirmed by blood tests and skin biopsies, steroids and immunosuppressants are administered orally. For severe cases, steroid pulse therapy, plasma exchange therapy, and high-dose gamma globulin therapy are used in combination.
Rituximab therapy is also performed on an outpatient basis after the initial inpatient stay.

Herpes zoster

Depending on the presence or absence of underlying diseases, the affected area, and the severity of symptoms, patients will be treated with antiviral drugs on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Skin tumors (benign and malignant)

We make diagnoses based on histopathological examinations of skin biopsies, ultrasound, and imaging tests using CT/MRI, and propose optimal treatments. Depending on the case, we work with plastic surgery to provide treatment. We also provide chemotherapy for malignant skin tumors (squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, etc.).

Drug rash/allergy

For severe drug rash, we perform multidisciplinary treatment such as steroid pulse therapy, plasma exchange therapy, and high-dose gamma globulin therapy after skin biopsy. Our hospital is certified as a hospital for the treatment of severe drug rash.
We also perform metal patch tests (except in summer) and prick tests.

Ingrown nails

We provide treatment for curved big toe nails using the Ingrown Nail Meister® (self-pay) service.
The treatment period can be shortened by using Renail Gel®, which has a nail softening effect.

Age spots, bruises

Our department treats blue birthmarks using the Syneron Candela Q-switched Alex laser. Ectopic Mongolian spots and nevus of Ota are commonly known as "blue birthmarks," and our goal is to make them less noticeable by performing laser treatment early on.
For red birthmarks (simple hemangioma, infantile hemangioma), we work with the pediatrics department to introduce propranolol hydrochloride (Hemangiol Syrup®) for hospitalization. Treatment is covered by insurance.

If you wish to receive treatment for spots (senile lentigo, acquired dermal melanocytosis), please make a reservation for an outpatient laser appointment on Thursday afternoon (self-pay).
During your first visit, we will only examine you and will not generally perform any radiation therapy.
Additionally, for those who prefer topical treatments, we sell 5% hydroquinone cream and 0.1% tretinoin cream.
