About Otorhinolaryngology
Otorhinolaryngology is often thought of clinical department as covering a relatively small area, such as the ears, nose, and throat, but in fact it covers the entire neck and above. Neurology It covers a large area of the head and neck, excluding the brain and spinal cord, which is handled by Neurosurgery and , the cervical spine, which is handled by Orthopedic Surgery, and the eyeballs, which are handled by Ophthalmology. In addition, the department features a wide range of medical services, from the treatment of minor ailments that everyone experiences at least once in their lives (primary care), such as colds, hay fever, nose bleeds, otitis media, and vertigo, to highly specialized services such as otological surgery and treatment of head and neck tumors and cancers. Because of this, our practice has recently come to be known as "Otorhinolaryngology ・Head and Neck Surgery".
As of April 2019, our staff has increased to three full-time doctors, enabling us to handle a wider range of illnesses and surgeries.
In principle, consultations will be limited to those with referral letter from another medical institution.
Diseases diagnosed by Otorhinolaryngology
Head and neck tumors (malignant tumors such as pharyngeal cancer, laryngeal cancer, and thyroid cancer, benign tumors such as thyroid tumors, parotid and submandibular gland tumors), nasal diseases (nose and paranasal sinus tumors, chronic sinusitis, eosinophilic sinusitis, deviated nasal septum, allergic rhinitis, nasal bone fractures), ear diseases (serous otitis media, acute otitis media, chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma otitis media, sudden deafness and other hearing disorders), acute infections (acute tonsillitis, acute epiglottitis, cervical abscess), voice disorders (vocal cord polyps, recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis), facial nerve paralysis, tonsillar hypertrophy, adenoid hyperplasia, congenital ear fistula, cervical lymphadenopathy, etc.
Medical treatment contents and features
Surgical treatments include thyroidectomy for thyroid tumors and thyroid cancer, parotid and submandibular gland surgery for salivary gland tumors, ear surgery for cholesteatoma, chronic otitis media, and otosclerosis, endoscopic sinus surgery for nasal and paranasal sinus diseases, voice improvement surgery for vocal cord polyps and vocal cord nodules, total laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer, neck dissection for malignant cervical tumors, and tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for chronic tonsillitis, tonsillar hypertrophy, and adenoid hyperplasia.
We also provide chemotherapy for head and neck cancer (laryngeal cancer, pharyngeal cancer, salivary gland cancer) and, in cooperation with Radiation Oncology, we also provide radiation therapy combined with chemotherapy.
We also support acute infections such as acute tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, and cervical abscess, and acute diseases such as facial nerve paralysis and sudden deafness.
Neck surgery
We perform surgery under general anesthesia for parotid and submandibular gland tumors, thyroid tumors and other neck tumors, midline neck cysts, lateral neck cysts, etc. For minor surgeries, we also perform same-day surgery under local anesthesia.
Ear Surgery
