The indoor and outdoor play area "Exciting Room & Garden" has finally been completed in the pediatric ward!
To celebrate the completion of the "Wakuwaku Room & Garden," a play area for children undergoing treatment that was opened in the pediatric ward on the sixth floor of our hospital, we held a presentation ceremony and preview on June 30th. On the day, the children who were the stars of the project gathered together, and representatives of the NPO "Children's Health Forum" and sponsor "Manulife Life Insurance," Director Mikata, Director Iwamoto of the Children's Center, and others participated in a ceremony to break a paper lantern and take commemorative photos.
"Wakuwaku Room" is inspired by the homes of animals that pop out of the large acrylic paintings that hang in the wards, while "Wakuwaku Garden" is inspired by the gardens of animals. It is our hope that these spaces will be a place where not only children, but also their families and hospital staff can take a break.
The children who participated commented that it felt good to feel the breeze.
Inoue, a staff member at our hospital who is a certified child life specialist, says, "I want this to be a place where children can feel comfortable and that will give them hope."
The event was covered by various media outlets. Please take a look at the links below.
